My T2 denial
Hi, Jan here again.
Too put it mildy I was in shock when I was diagnosed 15 years ago. It's not like a sore throat that you can see and mend - T2 is invisible and it makes you drink a lot, then wee a lot. I went into total denial. I left my doctor and went to a local doctor who sent me to the Alfred Hospital for training and to see a specialist. The specialist and my dietitian put me on the right track. If you are a diabetic the blood monitor, needles and everything came at no charge - but - you have to get a referral from your GP and go to a diabetes pharmacy (there are lots around now). You also get a free flu shot and 5 physio or podiatrist appointments for a year. See you next week.
